GERD and SIBO

GERD is a condition when stomach acid chronically flows back into the esophagus, resulting in inflammation and heartburn. SIBO, however, is experienced when the number of bacteria in the small bowel is too high, and this comes with symptoms such as bloating of the abdomen, diarrhea, and malnutrition. At Sehha Healing Center, we provide the knowledge and suggestions to help you manage and heal GERD and SIBO using modern medical approaches, Quran, and Sunnah.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and SIBO

Difference between GERD and SIBO

GERD is usually diagnosed through its symptoms, such as heartburn, regurgitation, and the sensation of lumping in the throat. The symptoms of SIBO are gas, bloating, pressure in the abdomen, regular loose bowel movements, and deficiencies in some nutrients. Recognizing these signs and seeking timely diagnosis and management is crucial for your digestive health.

What triggers GERD and SIBO?

There are various causes of GERD, such as the rapid emptying of the stomach, irregular and weak lower esophageal, being overweight or obese, smoking, and some foods and drugs. SIBO can result from conditions that slow the passage of food and waste through the digestive tract, such as surgery, infections, and structure. If not well managed, both conditions can limit your ability to enjoy life to the fullest.

Sehha’s Holistic Management of GERD and SIBO

At Sehha Healing Center, we take a natural approach to treating GERD and SIBO. We use dietary changes that are compliant with Islamic teachings and aim to improve digestive health.

  • Management of SIBO and GERD: However, in treating IBS, we first must diagnose GERD, SIBO, or any other factor that could have contributed to the complication. This is the foundation of the creation of individual client care plans based on dietary modification based on the Sunnah to manage digestive system health.
  • Addressing Food Intolerances and Sensitivities: We emphasize identifying and managing food intolerances and sensitivities that can exacerbate GERD and SIBO symptoms. Our goal is to involve non-triggering foods and exclude those that cause pain and discomfort in body healing.
  • Recommending Strategies for Gut Health:  It involves suggesting changes in diet, probiotics, prebiotics, and other supplements to improve gut health. These supplements assist in restoring and regulating the composition and function of bacteria in the stomach, decreasing inflammation, and promoting optimal digestion.
  • Designing Meal Plans: We create gentle dietary schedules on the stomach, packed with fiber and nutrients and specific to the client’s requirements. These plans aim to nourish the body while minimizing digestive stress and supporting gut health.
  • Ongoing Support and Monitoring: Continued support and regular follow-ups ensure sustained progress in managing GERD and SIBO. We are committed to empowering individuals to take proactive steps towards better digestive health.
